A study of histological changes of placenta

ABSTRACT
Background: Placenta forms the channel through which the essential nutrients are carried from the mother to the developing fetus. At the same time it also forms a channel through which the waste metabolites are eliminated from the fetus. So any deviation from the normal would hamper in the normal growth of the fetus. This study is an attempt has been made to correlate various placental villous changes to the fetal outcome in normal and specific high risk pregnancies. This study was done in Department of Pathology, Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore. The study was done from Oct 2017 to March 2019.
